Maybelline - Gel Eyeliner

Maybelline recently launched its gel eye liner in Australia which can be found in most drug stores. I was really surprised that this product was launched in Asia first and it took a while before it start selling in western countries. I purchased mine a while ago when it first launched in China. At that point MAC and Bobbi Brown’s gel eye liner were huge. However the expensive price stopped some including me.
I was so excited when Maybelline launched their gel eye liner. It was around 90 Yuan, approximately $16aud which is half the price of MAC and Bobbi Brown’s. And it includes a brush as well. The gel eye liner was really good itself and I have always believed in Maybelline introducing promising products. However the brush was the main thing that amazed me.  Normally with products like this, the additional tools are often useless. Such as the sponge given in powders, brushes given in blushes. But this brush is an exception. The person who designed this brush is a genius! The small brush head is flat on both side and goes sideways. It is perfect for both thick and thin lines. And the fur isn’t too soft which gives the strength to draw a perfect clean line. It is easy to carry it around as well. This brush isn’t only good for this product, I use it for my MAC eye shadows when drawing lines which the harshness.
I would definitely recommend this for people who which to give gel eye liner a try and for beginners as well. Personally I think this is as good as those highly priced gel eye liner or maybe even better. It is even under $20aud, if it is not suitable for you, wouldn’t feel too much a waste comparing to a $90aud spent on high end brand’s product.

Jealousness - Putting gel eyeliner into pencils.

Even though it says U.S.A, it first got famous in Taiwan and that’s where I first heard of it. It is the new form of presenting gel eye liners as a pencil. Gel eye liner became really famous and widely used recently. It is doesn’t smudge as easily as pencil eye liner, and it dries faster than liquid eye liner. However gel eye liner requires a external brush to apply on eye lids which may cause some difficulties in beginners or who aren’t familiar with brushes.
Jealousness launched this new product that put gel eye liner formula into a pencil shape, it is easy to apply, doesn’t make a mess and don’t need to clean or bring an extra brush when using it. Make life so much easier.
I bought two basic colours, black and brown. The black one #BKS has sparkles in it, and brown #BN is more as a metal brown. Pencils are the easiest and convenient eye liner drawer you can get. No matter you are a beginner or a professional, pencils are always good to use. I found these glides on really smoothly and stay on for quite a long time without smudging. However the black one with glitters tent to be a bit uncomfortable when applying, but it is still manageable and doesn’t stop me using it. Loved the brown, it has a metallic touch to it which differentiate it from other ordinary browns. It is good for eye liner when you don’t want to create harsh feelings, it automatically soften the look.
Really love these and was hoping to repurchase them again. However the company “improved” the formula of this product and the result wasn’t pleasing. I didn’t like the new model as it doesn’t glide on the lip as smoothly as the older model and hard to draw on. It’s such a shame, hope they realise this problem and fix it before all their potential consumers ran away.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour - Crush

Keep on the lip product haul and here comes the most recent lip product by Urban Decay. Absolutely love this brand and it always surprise me.

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour in colour Crush.
My friend kindly bought this for me when she went to America and it was $19usd.
"The electric colour in this lip pencil conjures edgy, straight-off-the-runway allure in seconds, with a lightweight, creamy texture that glides on smoothly and won't feather."

It is designed as a lip pencil but the texture and usage act as a lipstick. This form of lip pencil become really affective when applying on lip as it performs very well on corners and edges which normal lipstick cannot do without a lip brush.

The second I swatch this on my hand, I can feel the smoothness and moisture inside it. Really impressed by it. I applied this without putting lip balm beforehand it sets just great. Even though there are little pieces dryness on it but cannot be seen without staring.

It comes in 5 colours and i chose the colour CRUSH. On the website it appears to be more Barbie pink. When I applied it on it is purpler and neon coloured pink. Wasn't what I expected but still likes it. It's not a very wearable colour; it will only be used during special events. The other 4 colours are really edgy as well. Really looking forward for more colours in this line and preferably more neutral colour that are wearable for everyday uses.

Here's a video for you to see other amazing colours.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte No.13 Peach Passion

Recently I've started to taking care of my lip and playing around with it. Before I couldn't be bothered and my 24/7 dry lip stopped my crave for any lip products.
However I have been shopping around and start to focus on reviews on lip products. I guess other products I have are pretty satisfactory and didn't put too much effort into those products. For the next few blog posts I will talk about the lip products that I'm loving at the moment and would recommend to all.

First up is this Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick in No. 13 Peach Passion. It has SPF 15. I got it from Strawberry dot net. It's around $30aud on the site and if you purchase at Myer it's around $50aud.

Love the packaging! Gold plus the colour of the lipstick in the middle with the YSL logo. It is expensive and looks expensive as well. I chose the colour #13 peach passion. It is more on the pink side of orange colour. There's another one #30 (I think) is more on the orange side which I was struggling between when pruchasing it. At last #13 win cause I think orange tent to be a bit picky on skin tones and pink-ish tones often works with fair skin tone. It turns out great and will repurchase other colours.

It has a great mango fruity smell, it's moist and glide on lips perfectly. However I do need to apply lip balm before this, but that's kind of the case for every lipstick i wear. Not a big issue, doesn't make me like it less.

Eye-shadow primers.Comparing Urban Decay & Too Faced.

Urban Decay and Too Faced eyeshadow primer are loved by millions of makeup gurus. It has been around for quite awhile yet still loved by most people and their followers are expanding every day.
When I first has my hand over eyeshadow primer are from Urban Decay. Since then I could not describe how satisfied I am by them. And it is no joke that I tell everyone that I know to try them. They do not only insure your eyeshadow withou crease and smudge, also help to create a base for eyeshadows that their colour can be shown at its best. And it create a gap between harmful makeups and your eye lips that decrease the harm to your eyes.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Tube   $19usd

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Candlelight Softly Illuminating Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer   $19usd
I've heard a lot of good things about the too faced shadow insurance and finally I get to compare and try it with my urban decay primers. They are both at the same price in Sephora.

First, the texture and appearance.
Too Faced: yellow toned and has a bit of shimmer in it. More liquidish.
Urban Decay: pink toned and matte, more creamy.

Blend Out (too faced - urban decay - nil)
Too Faced: shows yellow toned shimmer.
Urban Decay: almost invisible.

With eyeshadows (too faced - urban decay - nil)

After wiping with tissue (too faced - urban decay - nil)
Too Faced: Still has some colour on it.
Urban Decay: More colours than too faced.
without primer: barely anything left.

They are both well performing eyeshadow bases. For Too Faced, it is good for people who are too lazy to apply extra layer of highlights as it is shimmer by itself already. For Urban Decay is good for people who wish for a matte finish look.
Will keep on experimenting with these two primers and as I already know. They makes life so much easier.

About NYX's lip products.

NYX is the low end drug store brand that has high end brand's quality. That's the reason it got so famous and loved by many makup gurus. Their products are mostly below $10usd, however the quality is still amazing.
This brand is good when trying on different colours in makeups and finding the right for yourself. Even though some may not work out at the end, but the investment wasn't too great. Unlike some high end brand's price can be really shoking and it's such a waste if it did not work out at the end. And I has been struggle with lip products before and scare to try out cause I know my lip can get really fastrating sometimes. Therefore when I heard about this brand and the positive reviews it has, I decided to give it a try. Like I said, even it doesn't work out, it's only a few dollars compare to trying other products which is ten times the price.

I purchased these on ebay since they don't sell in Australia :(
NYX Black Label Lipstick - #106 peachy, #115 Heiress.
NYX Round Lip Gloss - #28 Whipped
NYX Lip pencil - Pink

Really like the formula in these lipsticks. It is creamy and the colour turns out just like the packaging. There's no surprises when applying it on. The lip gloss's colour suits mosts lipstick colours and can be used pretty frequently. However I get lazy and frastrated all the time when I hair get stuck on my lip. But it is a very useful colour would recommend to who like to use lip glosses. The lip pencil wasn't so impressive, but still is a pretty colour.

Overall I really like this brand, it gives me the opportunity to explore new colours on myself and products that I was afraid of.

Lancome - Teint Miracle Foundation.

Before I had always being scared to use foundation by thinking it is too heavy and makes the face look unnatural and artificial. I have been use BB creams for quite a long time and when I first saw these new Lancome foundation and read couple of reviews of it, it really stimulated my desire in foundations. Therefore I finally decided that I would give them a go.

Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation - #01
Bought this at Myer for around $80 aud. Wouldn't recommend buying at Myer as the price got pulled up by so much comparing to overseas.

I'm using the shade in 01. Really love the texture as silking and slides perfectly on skin and the coverage isn't so bad. However this is still a bit yellow toned for me since all western brand foundation has the same problem. But still love them. Doesn't look too bad in summer since I do get darker and so I guess yellower :S

Artiste Brush sets

Good brushes adds an extra touch for perfect makeup look. It is always good to have extra help other than your fingers. But brushes can get really expensive when it comes to those high quality ones. And some cheap brushes are not worth any penny spend and sometimes makes everything worse.
I fought this brush set at priceline and was really impressed by them. They are from the brand Artiste, can be found at Priceline and Myer.
Their brushes range from $10aud to $30aud for single full sized brushes which isn't cheap but can be consider as cheaper than brands like MAC and Bobbi Brown. I found these brushes performs pretty well and almost the same as MAC brushes without the big prices. And this travel kit just make it even more worth mentioning.

This included power, foundation, concealler, eye duo brush, eyebrow duo and lip brush. Pretty much all the basic that a beginner would need. Even though it is in travel size but still isn't too much smaller than the regular sizes. The whole set is $39.95aud which is for 8 brushes. However for high end brushes $40aud may only get one brush.
The brushes are all really soft and easy to use. Really recommend for beginners and are new to use brushes as not everyone get use to using tools and this is perfect for experimenting with them.
However, need to bare in mind not all brushes are good and some travel kits that brushes are hidden inside the package can be really wrong. It is always safe to go with brands that has displays therefore you can feel the quality before purchasing them.

ELLIS FAAS - new way to see lipsticks.

I was scanning through one of the beauty blogger's blog and found an really interesting new line of cosmetic products. The brand is called Ellis Faas. It introduced a whole new way of presenting cosmetics.
By adapting the idea of bullet liked packaging with products are mostly liquid.
My lip really gets on my nerves as it gets dry really quickly and I have always been trying to get the perfect lip product for myself. The new liquid fomula really caught my eye.

An internal brush head is provided, therefore additional brush is not needed. However when it comes to cleaning it, it gets a little annoying.

URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE.

This palette has been around for quite awhile and yet it is still selling very well. Reviews about this product can be found everywhere through blogger, youtube, twitter etc.
By going through tons of reviews and finally I've own one.
With the palette there's always a little bottle of urban decay's signiture primer potion.
Apparently, due to high demand of this palette the eyeliner pencil included in the original package cannot catch the speed, therefore an eyeshadow brush has replaced it.

Here's a few videos talks about this pallette.

There are 12 different shades in this palette.
All shades can be used throughout day and night depends how you want to combine them.I found all of the shades are really useable unlike some palettes there's always some colour that are either too ordinary or over the top that cannot be wear at all.
The size is travel friendly as well. All you need is one pallette and you are good to go. Don't even need another bag for the eyeshaow brush.
I have been used this palette for more than 5 months now. Still loves it and hasn't found anything else can replace it. Travel around with it and love the convinience.

swatch on hand.
